C 37b Aircraft - The US Air Force has awarded a $127.4 million contract to Gulfstream Aerospace to supply two C-37B aircraft. The contract was awarded with funding from the recently passed FY20 defense appropriations bill. The service's FY20 budget request in 2017 included $161 million for two G550 C-37Bs to replace retired C-20B (Gulfstream III) aircraft. The new aircraft will be used as an executive vehicle.

The aircraft will be built in Savannah, Georgia and delivered by September 2021. A fixed price contract was a sole source procurement. Air Force Lifecycle Management Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, is the contracting activity. (FA8134-20-F-3100)

It was the sixth C-37B to join the 99th AC, bringing the squadron's total inventory of C-37s to eleven, and the third 89th AW cadre to earn a tail number from a pivotal point in US military aviation history.

Including the new aircraft, the USAF has fifteen C-37s (variants A and B) in its inventory. Finally, this will be augmented with another C-37B to be delivered in the future. C-37B is the US military designation for the Gulfstream G550 in VIP passenger configuration.

In late December 2019, the magazine wrote about the previous batch of C-37B aircraft assigned to the USAF.
